This is a photo of Matt from the startup days of Sons of Sawdust. Matt was still on food stamps/EBT. This was not too long after Matt had lost everything and had faced near homelessness with his wife and two small kids.
Matt started where he was, with what he had. He just started! Little did he know back then, he was starting something that would change his life forever!

How To Start ANYTHING
FIND INSPIRATION
Inspiration is all around you. The first step in the creation journey is to Be Still. Observer yourself and your surroundings with a sense of awe. Close your eyes and be silent for 5 to 10 minutes. Keep coming back to peace and calm.
BE OPEN
There is no flow where there is no opening. A conduit allows energy to flow. The only way to find purpose is to be open to finding it.
LET GO - ALLOW THE FLOW TO FLOW
Once you learn to open the floodgates of your creativity through process meditation, creative ideas will flood your mind on a daily basis. You'll have more ideas coming to you than you'll know what to do with.
LISTEN FOR THE WHISPER OF THE MUSE & BANK IT
